Malta Restaurant Review – Sunday 3rd January 2016

HOS (House of Spice) is a newly opened Indian restaurant in Bugibba.

The room is spotless; white tables with burgundy and gold trimmed table runners, black and cream comfy chairs that bounce gently up and down. Our waitress was charming and friendly but a bit too zealous, trying very hard to make a good impression perhaps.

At last we have found an Indian restaurant in Malta that serves decent papadums; in the other Indian restaurants we have tried, the papadums have either been weird or nasty. In HOS they were crisp, dry and salty and served with a selection of dips. For mains we had chicken jalfrezi, lamb razzala, naan bread, pilau rice and Bombay aloo and, apart from the naan (which was more like an Italian flatbread), everything was excellent. The restaurant was very quiet; maybe word hasn’t gotten around yet. The owner came to talk to us and seemed genuinely interested in our feedback.

The food bill came to €31 which we thought was good value. If HOS keeps its standards up, I can see us becoming regular visitors.
